Stonyfield Organic

Back in 1983, co-founders Samuel Kaymen and Gary Hirshberg were running a nonprofit organic farming school on a small New Hampshire farm. They were on a mission to help family farms survive, keep food and food production healthy, and help protect the environment. But the school needed funding. So they put the farm’s seven cows to work (and all the helping hands they could wrangle) and began selling really good yogurt made without the use of toxic persistent pesticides or chemical fertilizers.

It was hard work in the beginning with each of them milking the cows, making the yogurt, and doing sales calls and even deliveries. After some time their yogurt became a big hit. Samuel and Gary realized that a successful organic company could make a bigger difference for family farms, people, and the planet than their school could. So they decided to run with yogurt.
Over 35 years later, our mission is still healthy.

Today, Stonyfield organic yogurts, smoothies, milk, and cream are sold in supermarkets, natural food stores, and colleges across the country. And we make all of it without using toxic persistent pesticides, artificial hormones, antibiotics, or GMOs.


siggi’s began in 2005 by Siggi Hilmarsson an Iceland native who was feeling homesick for a childhood comfort food. Skyr, a thick, creamy, high-protein yogurt was one of the tastes of home. Many yogurts in America were too sweet and artificial in comparison.

Using his mother’s recipe he began to make Skyr in his small New York kitchen. Siggi decided to quit his job after a few months of making his hometown treat and bought a large amount of dairy equipment and soon siggi’s dairy was born. 

True from the start siggi’s products do not contain artificial preservatives, sweeteners, or other flavors. It is made with milk from family-owned farms in New York and Wisconsin. siggi’s continues to be fully committed to making delicious all-natural yogurt with simple ingredients and minimal amounts of sugar.

Brown Cow

Two hippies and a cow named Lily started making yogurt in upstate New York in 1973. And all these years later, Brown Cow is still making delicious cream top yogurt with milk from happy cows.

Brown Cow uses Non-GMO Project Verified ingredients, with no artificial ingredients or preservatives, and uses only whole milk from cows with no artificial hormones.

Green Mountain Creamery

Several years ago Green Mountain Creamery founders embarked on a mission to make a Greek yogurt that everyone could love. They wanted to capture all the nutritional power that folks had come to expect from Greek yogurt, but make it milder, creamier, and more affordable.

It wasn’t about our “special cows” or our fields of green or our picturesque barns. Sure, we love all that stuff about our home state. But what makes Vermont what it is is the people. Hardy, down-to-earth, no fuss. Simple straight-forward folk. People looking for the real deal
